Mumbai: On the day when batting genius Sachin Tendulkar is playing his farewell Test match at his home turf, Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, CNN-IBN found out that several touts were selling complimentary club tickets at exhorbitant rates in black.
The touts were caught on camera saying that the price could go as high as Rs 10,000- Rs 15,000 once India bats.
Mumbai Cricket Association had allotted around 17,000 tickets to cricket clubs and at least 8,000 tickets were given on a complimentary basis to sponsors and government bodies.
However, only 5,000 tickets were allotted to the public.
But die-hard Sachin fans are leaving no stone unturned to see his last and 200th Test match and touts are utilising this opportunity to make huge windfall profits by selling complimentary club tickets.
When CNN-IBN reporter approached a tout, he said, "I have normal tickets for Rs 5,500. Member tickets will also cost the same."
Another tout said, "I have season tickets for 5 days. I also have 4 complimentary tickets."
"If you want you will get more tickets. Sachin stand tickets are also available. Complimentary will be on side and Sachin stand on the other", added the tout.
This time it's not about success, but the connect. This time it's not about performance, but emotion. And Wankhede is witnessing Sachin's last Test match, but the irony is the online ticket booking site crashed and the fans were driven away from the stadium when they approached to buy the tickets.
