Mumbai: Teenager Ben Wheeler has replaced injured New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram in the Central Stags squad for next month's Airtel Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa.

The Technical Committee of the tournament, to be held in four South African cities from September 10-26, on Friday confirmed Wheeler's inclusion through a media release here.

The 18-year-old Wheeler, an emerging talent in New Zealand cricket, replaced Oram after scans confirmed that the Kiwi all-rounder will require surgery on his injured knee.

Ben Wheeler was a member of New Zealand's squad at the 2010 ICC Under-19 World Cup.

Oram took part in the ongoing triangular ODI series in Sri Lanka but returned home after suffering the injury without playing the crucial last league encounter against India on August 25 that the latter won to reach Saturday's final.

Wheeler made his first-class debut earlier this year and was a member of New Zealand's squad at the 2010 ICC Under-19 World Cup, the release added.
