Lahore: Pakistan fast bowler Aizaz Cheema is confident of taking wickets against England in the coming Test series as he feels that pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are similar to the ones found in Pakistan.
"All my life I have played on Pakistani pitches and I got into the national team on basis of taking wickets on them. So I am pretty confident, I can repeat my wicket-taking feats in the coming series," Cheema told mediapersons on Thursday.
He pointed out that having gotten used to bowling on the slow pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi which were similar to the ones found in Pakistan, their bowlers definitely had an advantage over the England team.
"We have recently played lot of matches in then UAE and taken wickets on them be it our pacers or spinners. So we know what to expect from the pitches and how to bowl on them and that I thinks gives us that little edge in the coming series," Cheema a late starter in international cricket said.
About England side, he said, "They are a quality side and they have some class batsmen so it is not a case of targetting one particular player you have to keep bowling with discipline all the time."
Cheema said while bowling on the pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi one had to have pace but also plenty of discipline in line and length and most importantly patience.
"I have pace but more importantly, I have to hit the right line," he added.
Talented Umar Akmal recalled for the Tests against England said he was ready for the big challenge.
Akmal said,"I have always tried to perform for the team because only it is when you score runs under pressure and in a crisis situation that you are recognized as a top player and I hope to achieve that someday."
