Mumbai: Former India wicketkeeper and national selector Kiran More has heaped praise on Yuvraj Singh by stating that Yuvraj is a proven match-winner and will always be for Team India or whichever team he plays.
"From the day he started playing for India, he has been a match-winner and I am sure it will continue to be that way till he plays competitive cricket. He's gone through a lot in recent times but there's still a lot of cricket left in him," More told the Times of India.
Yuvraj, following his bout with cancer, has struggled to cement his place in the Indian team. There were concerns over his form and fitness and the 32-year-old tackled the latter with a certain degree of seriousness by heading to France last year where he chiseled himself back into shape. But he still has to address his issues with the bat.
Yuvraj was left out of India's Asia Cup 2014 squad but the selectors showed faith in him by naming him in the squad for the ICC World T20 2014 in Bangladesh. Of late, India has missed that stability in the middle order and if Yuvraj can make his chance count, there won't be much Dhoni will have to worry about in Bangladesh.
Some may call Yuvraj's inclusion in the World Twenty20 squad a lifeline for him, but looking at the way Team India's graph is plummeting, it won't be wrong to call his inclusion a lifeline for Team India as well.
