New Delhi: Struggling with injuries and bad form, veteran India pacer Zaheer Khan has set his sights on Cape Town, where he will be travelling to train under former India coach Gary Kirsten, Times of India reported on Monday.

Zaheer earlier spent six weeks in France, alongside allrounder Yuvraj Singh, to regain his fitness. Zaheer had told TOI last month that it was the first phase of his physical training and in the second phase he will visit South Africa to work on his bowling and fielding.

Zaheer's mentor Sudhir Naik, who is also the chief selector of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team, confirmed that to TOI. "Zaheer will be travelling to Cape Town to work with Gary Kirsten for three weeks. He was to leave on September 6, but he still has to get his visa. Once that happens, he will be off," Naik said. "There he will primarily work on his fielding and bowling," he added.

India are scheduled to travel to South Africa for a Test tour at the end of this year, and Zaheer returning to form and fitness will help recharge India's pace battery. However, the Mumbai fast bowler will have to prove that in the Ranji Trophy season beginning shortly.
