Bangalore: Everyone has got their eyes peeled out for Pramod Muthalik's Ram Sene and even the hardcore RSS has distanced itself from this saffron group - saying it won't object banning the Sene.
And if the police are to be believed, Bangaloreans can happily go ahead and make merry this Valentine's Day.
“If any pub owner or owner of card shops has a problem or threat, he must inform the jurisdictional police station. Necessary action is being taken to give protection to these people,” City Police Commissioner, Shankar Bidari.
But couples in Bangalore know it is not going to be that easy. The Sri Ram sene has threatened to round up all dating couples and get them married.
They have also warned pubs and gift shops not to have anything special for February 14.
“You can't believe commitment of the police. It is a personal thing, if you feel some place is secure, you go there,” says a Bangalorean.
But some pub-owners say they don't expect any real trouble.
“We're looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day in the best way possible,” says Pub owner, Ashok Sadhwani.
“There's a certain amount of fear, people are worried. Any mother will be concerned about her daughter going out specially on a sensitive day like that,” says President, Pub Owners' Association, Ashish Kothari.
And this worry would prevent Bangaloreans from going all that footloose and carefree this time around.
