Curfew in Ghaziabad after desecration of holy book

Ghaziabad, Sep 14 (PTI) Curfew was tonight imposed in Mussouri police station area of Ghaziabad following violence and arson marred protest against alleged desecration of a holy book in Dasna, leaving six policemen injured.

District magistrate Aparna Upadhaya said curfew has been clamped in the Mussouri police station area. Police sources said the protestors torched a police vehicle and two-three private vehicles. They also blocked national highway and pelted stones on the car of MP Rajender Agarwal,

According to police, six policemen were injured in the violence.

The protesters claimed torn papers from the scripture were found at Adhyatmik Nagar station platform, according to police sources.

Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel were deployed in the trouble-hit areas.
