Curfew in Wani after farmer's death

CNN-IBN

Yavatmal (Maharashtra): Maharashtra's Yavatmal district remains tense and indefinite curfew has been imposed on the Wani village following Friday’s incident.

Meanwhile, the police claim the situation is now under control.

A cotton farmer was killed and 20 others injured in police firing on Friday. There hasn’t been an announcement of any amount of compensation for the victim's family yet.

Trouble started after protesting cotton farmers tried to enter the cotton yards and were stopped by the police.

Farmers who had brought their produce to Wani were reportedly objecting to the way in which officials were trying to buy the cotton.
