New Delhi: In a strange coincidence, Qutub Colonnade where ramp model Jessica Lall was murdered, was sealed by an MCD team just a day after the murder case itself came to a close with the conviction of Manu Sharma and three others by the Delhi High Court on Monday.
It was at Tamarind Court restaurant, which is housed inside Qutub Colonnade, that Jessica Lall was murdered during a high-profile party on April 29, 1999.
As part of its sealing drive ordered by the Supreme Court, the civic body targeted 23 establishments falling in the South zone, including the Qutub Colonnade which had at present housed key witness Bina Ramani's daughter Malini's boutique and a jewelery store. The infamous Tamarind Court had been shut down within an year of the incident.
Apart from this, other units sealed were the corporate office of Bharti Airtel Ltd, India Cottage Industries and India Crafts Emporium.
The sealing action was carried out at Mehrauli Road, Aurobindo Marg and Anuvart Marg. With Tuesday's action, the total number of units sealed since the resumption of the drive on November 8 has reached 3,395.
