New Delhi: The woes surrounding Commonwealth Games continue in the Capital. This time along with the charges of corruption the organisers are being blamed for triggering a rise in dengue cases.

The number of dengue cases is rising at an alarming rate with 19 new cases reported on Tuesday. There have been 140 cases of dengue all over the country among which 123 are from Delhi alone. The doctors say, this alarming rise in the dengue cases is most because of the construction work that is going on surrounding the Commonwealth Games.

According to the doctors, the water accumulated at the construction sites have led to an increase in the number of dengue cases this year. The government has formed a special task force comprising of officers from different agencies involved in the Commonwealth Games to keep a check on these sites.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has found mosquitoes breeding at seven Commonwealth sites and issued notices to the officials in charge of these sites.

Mayor Prithviraj Sahni said officers have been engaged to keep a check on construction sites where there remains a chance of water stagnation.

Even though the doctors are carrying out regular checks, the doctors predict that dengue will peak in October, the same month the Commomwealth Games would be held.
