New Delhi: Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama was on admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi following severe abdominal pain.
The 73-year-old Nobel laureate will be operated upon on Friday, sources were quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
The Buddhist monk had undergone treatment earlier at Mumbai's Lilavati hospital for abdominal discomfort where he was treated by Dr Narendra Trivedi, who is also the Vice-President of the private hospital.
He was discharged on September 1 and asked to report to Ganga Ram for a routine check-up.
Doctors at the Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre had earlier said that there was no cause for concern and that the Dalai Lama only needed rest and medical treatment.
Certain medical tests were conducted on the Nobel peace laureate, according to a hospital spokesman.
Earlier in August, he had gone for a check-up to Lilavati hospital before leaving for a 12-day religious tour of France. Doctors had then told him to cancel all his appointments and rest for three weeks.
