Lucknow: In the wake of alleged rape and murder of a Dalit girl and subsquent arson, the UP government on Monday suspended four senior officials, including the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police of Pratapgarh, for alleged laxity in performing their duties.
DM YK Bahal and SP OP Sagar along with Circle Officer Kunda BS Rana and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ram Prakash Mishra were put under suspension with immediate effect, an official spokesman said.
They have been suspended on the charge of laxity in carrying out their duties, he said.

The suspension comes two days after an incident of arson in Kunda area of Pratapgarh district on June 23 when several houses were set ablaze following alleged gangrape and murder of a Dalit girl.
