Rae Bareli: Nearly 1,000 women who earn their livelihood by dancing and singing at private parties met young Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, in the midst of his campaign in his mother's constituency.
These women demanded that Rahul help reinstate dance bars or organise some alternate source of employment for them.
The women voters at Semarthaha village in Dalmau assembly consituency told Rahul, who was visiting their village for campaigning, that they had been left unemployed after the closure of dance bars in Mumbai.
They said there was no scope for traditional dancing and singing any more.
They also demanded that dance bars be opened in Amethi.
