Daniel Radcliffe turns 18 in Muggle world

New Delhi: In the wizarding world of author JK Rowling, 17 is the age when you step into adulthood but Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe had to follow Muggle rules and wait till 18 to become an adult and gain access to his 23 million-pound fortune. July 23 marks Radcliffe's 18th birthday.

Born in 1989, Radcliffe made his acting debut in BBC's televised version of David Copperfield.

He also acted in many plays before he successfully auditioned for the celluloid adaptation of the first Harry Potter book.

And with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001 began Daniel's meteoric rise to fame and wealth.

Five Harry Potter films, a few television appearances and a Broadway play later Daniel is now one of the richest British teenagers and the youngest member of Madam Taussaud's wax museum.

To top it all marriage proposals are also pouring in as witnessed at the latest Potter film premiere.

“She (fan) photoshoped me with her in a wedding outfit and said marry me Dan. It was very sweet,” Daniel said.

With the latest Harry Potter installment, Order of the Phoenix doing phenomenal business worldwide and reports of Radcliffe earning $50 million for the next two films in the franchise it looks like Daniel is an happy adult.
