Chennai: Contrary to his claims of starting sluggishly, Top seed Nikolay Davydenko showed no such signs as he sailed into the 2nd round, with a comfortable win.
The 27-year old Russian playing an inexperienced Daniel Koellerer took no time to win the match 6-2, 6-3.
"It is always nice to win a match, no matter against whom or in which round. Today, I was serving pretty well, but was not happy with my baseline game," said Davydenko who will next play wild card entry and Leander Paes' doubles partner Lukas Dlouhy of Czech Republic.
