Mumbai: Dilshad Bohra has been making the rounds of Bombay High Court for the last year in the hope of getting justice in her fight against some influential relatives of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
And just when things had started looking up, case papers have mysteriously disappeared from the High Court premises.
"At the last moment when the case came up for hearing, the court told us that the case papers are missing. We were shocked. We kept looking at the judge and asking what happened!" says Bohra.
Bohra owns a building close to Dawood's sister Haseena Parker's residence in Nagpada and in the last year she has collected documents through RTI proving that:
- Illegal guest houses are being run in the building.
- A copy of a ration card learly shows that Faki Raziya, mother-in law of Dawood's sister is a resident of the building.
- Finally an affidavit that nailed Dawood's sister-in-law Zaitul Antulay and her relatives Aqiqa Ahmed Antulay as being the other residents.
And today all this is lost. “If the case papers are lost how could the matter be listed for 14 hearings?” Bohra asks.
The timing of the disappearance raises serious questions: Does the underworld have a mole in the High Court? Does it mean that other case papers related to the underworld cases are also at risk?
Bora has written to the Chief Justice of India. “There is definitely some mischief. It has to be someone from the court, otherwise how can it happen suddenly?” she asks,
The High Court registrar and the court receiver declined to comment when approached by CNN-IBN and while Bora’s long fight for justice is back to square one, the security of case papers continues to remain a concern.
