Click to play videoSaudi Arabia: Anees Ibrahim, the brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim has been arrested from Jeddah airport. He has been detained reportedly for violating passport laws.
However, there are no official confirmation from CBI and Interpol yet on his arrest. The Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia has not confirmed the news.
Anees has an Interpol red corner notice against him and has been detained in Dubai many times in the past.
He is also wanted for several cases in India.
Anees was last arrested in 2002 in Dubai in connection to the murder of another gangster but was bailed out hours before Central Bureau of Investigation could send a request for his extradition. India doesn't have an extradition treaty with Saudi Arabia.
Anees Ibrahim is also an accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.
He was also detained by Dubai authorities in 1996, but was later left off for want of evidence.
He was again arrested in Bahrain in late 1990s but was later shifted to Dubai, from where he was released.
