New Delhi: He was hoping to see Ayodhya dispute resolved through dialogue. But for Hashim Ansari that may not happen now. With the working committee of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board meeting in Lucknow on Saturday, have decided to challenge the Ayodhya verdict in the Supreme Court.

"We have decided to go to the apex court," says Asstt General Secretary, AIMPLB Mohd Abdul Raheem Qureshi.

Though there was a view within the board that possibility of an Out-Of-Court settlement be explored but a majority felt that the legality of the judgment needs to be challenged. At the same time, another party to the case, the Nirmohi Akhara has also done a U-turn. The Akhara's right over a portion of the disputed land was upheld by the court and earlier it was willing to negotiate an amicable settlement.

Interestingly, all the parties in the case have expressed willingness to negotiate but none have so far come up with a concrete proposal. So, the legal battle it appears over the one of the oldest title disputes is like to resume in the highest court of law in the country sooner or later.
