New Delhi: When California-based author and spiritual guru Dr Deepak Chopra has something to say, there are more than enough people eager to listen in. From movie stars to economists to people looking for a little inspiration.

Chopra launched his latest book - in fact his 49th book - in the Capital on Saturday evening.

The book is called Buddha and is a fictionalised story of the Buddha, that's meant to be a story of enlightenment.

“When you examine his life, he's human with foibles, problems and temptations and darkness like all of us. I thought it would be a nice way to tell the story, get to his conclusions but through the struggle of being human,” says Chopra.

But that's also because it's of course easier to identify with someone who's not a deity.

“You can identify with someone who's vulnerable, who struggles, who has as we would say issues, and beyond them, it's inspiring it's also a learning experience. You can do that if you don’t put this person in such reverence and such awe that you think that you couldn't do that,” says Chopra.

Chopra's book, priced at Rs 395 in hardback, doesn't aim to be historical, but does track the Buddha from the time of his birth as Prince Siddhartha, to his enlightenment. It's an inspiring journey, at the very least.
