New Delhi: The decision of Commonwealth Games Federation president Michael Fennell on Saturday to scrap the Technical Review Committee (TRC) came as a relief to the Games Organising Committee (OC) head Suresh Kalmadi.
Though Fennell has shelved the idea of the review committee, the pace of the preparation of the games is still a matter of concern.
Under the scanner are the SPM swimming pool and complex and more importantly the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremony of the games will take place.
“Most of the things will be ready by March end and as far as the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium is concerned, it will be ready by June end,” assures Kalmadi.
After lashing out at the OC two months back, this December visit has been his best so far but lot more is still needed to be done.
“We are happy with the attitude, approach and energy that we have witnessed in the management and the members of the OC. We are satisfied and if they sustain that we’ll achieve the results,” says Fennell.
