New Delhi: A 25-year-old woman was shot dead in south Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan area on Sunday night in front of her husband. Police said the accused, who was known to the victim, has been detained.
"The main accused has been detained by the police. He hails from Saharsa in Bihar. A countrymade pistol and a few bullets have been recovered from him," said ACP Ajay Chaudhary. The accused, identified as Munsi Yadav, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
"Around 8 pm we got to know that a woman was shot dead in Sarai Kale Khan. The victim was a resident of Bhajanpura in Delhi. Traffic police staff arrested the accused on the spot," said Chaudhary.
He also confirmed the incident as a case of personal enmity. "This is a matter of personal enmity, no complaint of molestation has been received yet. Both the accused and the victim knew each other for quite sometime," Chaudhary added. He said the victim's husband would be questioned by police for further details.
