Click to play videoMumbai: Mansoor Peerbhoy, the alleged Indian Mujahideen operative arrested in connection with the Delhi and Ahmedabad blasts has admitted to sending the terror e-mails.
Peerbhoy, a 31-year-old software professional and alleged head of the media wing of the Indian Mujahideen says he took to jehad after seeing the plight of Muslim victims at the Mecca masjid blast in Hyderabad in 2007.
In a confession before a local magistrate he said: “We then visited the hospital where we saw the injured Muslims, but the police was not handing back the bodies of the victims to their relatives. At that time, I started believing that there is truth in the statements made by Bhatkals-Riyaz and Iqbal, about the injustice towards Muslims.
Peerbhoy then resolved to take advantage of this tech skills to further the cause of jehad. He regularised his contacts with Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal who masterminded the multiple serial blasts across India.
Peerbhoy went on further: “He told me that the time is coming near for the revenge for Gujarat, and that I should go to Mumbai to see at which places the wireless networks are available with the proper internet connectivity and signal strength, so that I can hack into them for sending emails.
They chose Chembur, Colaba, CST and Matunga in Mumbai.
Bhatkal dictated the contents of the terror emails which Peerbhoy sent with logos finalized by Bhatkal. One such email was sent just minutes before the Ahmedabad serial bombings.
“Riyaz Bhatkal had previously given us the image containing "Guru-Al-Hindi" signature. Iqbal signed with his own hand "Al-Arbi" and we scanned it and used that image as signature.”
Peerbhoy in his confessional statement gives more such intricate details about how the media cell of the Indian Mujahideen functioned and it’s this confession that will now be used by the prosecution to build a stronger case against him in the trial ahead.
