New Delhi: For the BJP, caught in internal squabbles, terror attacks have provided the perfect stick to hit the UPA with and in election times, gruesome blast pictures make good posters for their campaign.
The campaign has already gained momentum with the BJP criticising the visit by Jama Masjid's Imam Bukhari and Samajwadi Party MP Abu Azmi to alleged terror mastermind Abu Bashar's house in Azamgarh.
"Imam Bhukari and Abu Azmi should not have visited Bashir's family. They should have waited for poilce verification and they should have waited till the family got a clean chit and they should have waited for police interrogation to be over. A terrorist is a terrorist. Let's not involve religion into it," BJP Spokesperson, Prakash Javadekar said.
In fact, sources reveal that in the upcoming elections BJP will liberally use footage of terror attacks in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Varanasi and as well as the fact that Abu Azmi visited Abu Bashar's family to highlight UPA's rule marked by terrorism.
Seeing through the BJP gameplan, Congress is terrified. In Gujarat, a confused strategy cost Congress the elections. It seems to have learnt from its mistake and so is coming out with a strategy.
Congress feels patriotic emotions can best counter BJP's campaign. So if the BJP is showing terror pictures, the Congress posters will remind the electorate that nobody in the BJP was slain by terrorists, but Congress icons Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were.
"BJP has no right to speak against our internal security. Incidents of terrorism in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chattisgarh and many other places erupted only after the communal tension created by Advani's Rath Yatra," he said.
But while both the BJP and Congress are engaged in the terror battlefield, little thought is being given to the most important question - When will these blasts stop?
