New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi party leader Arvind Kejriwal who has rewritten the grammar of politics took charge as the chief minister of Delhi along with six of his Cabinet colleagues on Saturday.
In a press conference held soon after Kejriwal took charge of the government, he said that he has retained the crucial portfolios of Home, Power, Finance, Planning and Vigilance in the government.
Former journalist Manish Sisodia who also took oath as a Cabinet Minister in the government has been given the charge of Education and PWD Ministry in the government.
Kejriwal said the honesty will be rewarded in this time. "In earlier governments corruption used to be rewarded and honesty was punished. But now this will not be the case. I have told the officers not to fear anyone and work with honesty. There will be no witch-hunting."
Other ministers to get the charge are Rakhi Birla, the only woman minister, who will head Women and Child Development Ministry, Social Justice and Languages. Somnath Bharti will handle Tourism, Law, Administrative reforms in the Delhi government.
Somnath said, "Delhi will be common man's Delhi. Common people will be the VIP."
Girish Soni will take charge of the Labour Ministry while Satyendra Jain of the Health and Industries. The youngest minister Saurabh Bhardwaj will handle Food and Supply and Transport departments.
Satyendra Jain said, "We will fulfill all the 18 promises we have made to the people of Delhi."
Girish Soni said, "The only pressure we have is to fulfill all the promises made to the people."
Kejriwal added that further decisions will be taken in the Cabinet meeting that will be held during the day and the portfolio allocation will be conveyed thereafter.
