New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit has blamed political forces for the recent terror attacks in the capital. Speaking to Karan Thapar on Devil's Advocate, Dikshit said the timing of the attacks coincided with the state elections, raising questions over the intentions of the those behind the terror attacks.
Sheila Diskhit: There is a feeling all over the country that because elections are coming near, therefore these incidents will take place to divide society and all of us know some of the parties which do believe in dividing society, so that people are hesitant to exercise what they would exercise in the normal time.
Karan Thapar: Last Saturday, literally just a week ago when the incident happened in Meharuli, many people thought that, in fact, it was done by political parties trying to exploit the situation. You may not name it, but I will suggest that many people pointed their finger at the BJP. You are suggesting there my have been some truth to that.
Sheila Dikshit: No. I do get this impression, that nearly 10 years I have been the chief minister, we've never had incidents.
Karan Thapar: Why is it happening now?
Sheila Dikshit: Why is it happening now, that's a question mark lot of people are asking. Is it because the elections are drawing near. Why? Why is this peace and tranquility being disturbed.
