New Delhi: A constable was beaten up in New Delhi by four drunk men when he tried to prevent them from molesting a woman was travelling in a car with her brother here in the city, police said on Tuesday. One accused was arrested.
Constable Mohit Kumar, 22, posted at east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar police station, was beaten up by the accused when he reached Eastend Apartments after receiving a molestation call around 10.30 pm on Monday.
"The accused first beat up the 21-year-old woman's brother. After arriving at the spot when beat constable Mohit tried to intervene, the accused thrashed him as well. In the mean time some other policemen arrived and overpowered one of the accused while the others escaped," said a police officer.
The arrested accused was identified as Neeraj, 19, a driver, the officer said.
