New Delhi: Former MDLR Airlines airhostess Geetika Sharma's mother committed suicide on Friday. Geetika had also committed suicide in 2012, allegedly after she was harassed by former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha, co-accused in the case. They both have, however, been denying the charge.
Family sources said Geetika's mother committed suicide by hanging herself from the roof. Police said they received the information at 5.50 pm and added that prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide. Police also recovered a suicide note which names Kanda and Chaddha. The deceased had two children - Geetika who died in 2012 and Ankit who is a fashion designer.
Kanda along with some of his associates were arrested in 2012 for allegedly forcing Geetika to commit suicide and the case is under trial at a Delhi court. After the trial started, Geetika's family had been alleging pressure from Kanda.
Twenty-three-year-old Geetika, who was found dead at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi on August 5, 2012, had in her suicide note said that she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Kanda and Chaddha.
