Delhi govt approves food security scheme for poor

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Monday gave its nod to implementing a project to provide food security to two lakh vulnerable households in the current year not covered under other schemes.

Dilli Annashree Yojana was earlier announced in city's budget 2012-13.

"We have approved the scheme and it will be implemented from Nov 19," said Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Under the scheme, a monthly food subsidy of Rs 600 will be transferred to the bank account of the senior most female member of the household.

An outlay of Rs 150 crore has been provided for the scheme during current financial year.
