Delhi: Key member of dreaded Biker gang held

New Delhi: Nasir alias Zakir is a member of the dreaded Bunty Biker Gang which spread terror on the streets of the Capital in the first two weeks of July, committing five murders and 13 robberies - many of them in broad day light.

Zakir carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. A Delhi Police team arrested him on the Delhi-Haryana Border. His two associates, Mushtaq and Rakesh, have also been nabbed.

DCP South, HGS Dhaliwal said, "We had specific inputs based on which we acted and nabbed the culprits and recovered two automatic guns and a knife from them. Further raids have led to the recovery of incriminating evidence."

This is the first success of the 200 member team from the Delhi Police that was made to nab this gang. The gang's kingpin, Om Prakash alias Bunty, as well as three other main members, are yet to be arrested. The Delhi Police are now hoping to get more clues after questioing Nasir.

With the arrest of Zakir, the Delhi Police has come a step closer to arresting the entire gang and putting it behind the bars. The police has to ensure though that investigations into this case continue at the same pace that led to Zakir's arrest.

Police have charged Zakir's associate Mushtaq with stealing a bike in south Delhi and supplying it to the Bunty gang, while Rakesh faces charges of harbouring Zakir in his village in Hardoi Uttar Pradesh.
