New Delhi: A 35-year-old man, earlier involved in cases of sexual assault against women in his native village in Bihar, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering a minor girl after she resisted his advances.
Gopal, a native of Katihar district, was arrested for his involvement in the murder of a 10-year-old girl, who was his neighbour in Pul Prahladpur area, police said on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a manhunt for Gopal and arrested him at Tughlaqabad Railway station while he was about to escape. Police suspected Gopal's involvement as he was missing from his house since the incident last night. "It was also found that Gopal was booked at his native place on charges of rape and molestation," a senior police official said.

During interrogation it was found that the accused went to the victim's house on the pretext of watching TV and tried to misbehave with her, he said.
"Gopal tried to misbehave with the girl and when she objected to it, and threatened to tell her brother, he attacked her with a knife and killed her with a pointed stone," he said. Gopal was also caught at his native place on charges of several rape attempts, the official said.
