New Delhi: The father of the Delhi minor rape survivor was offered a bribe of Rs 2000 by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gandhinagar Police Station, source said on Sunday. The Joint Commissioner of Police (Vigilance) submitted report on the allegations of bribe by the police in the case.
Sources added the victim's family has identified the SHO of the police station. The family had alleged they were offered a bribe of Rs 2000 by police when they had gone to register a case.
The Joint CP (vigilance) probe found negligence on the part of both the SHO and the investigating officer of the case, sources added. Both the officers are now under suspension and a departmental enquiry is on against them, sources added.
The 5-year-old rape survivor's family had also alleged police officers were reluctant to file an FIR. When confronted about the rape probe, the police officials allegedly told the parents to just be grateful that she was found alive.
The girl was brutally raped and assaulted by two men in east Delhi's Gandhinagar area earlier in April. She is now recuperating in Delhi's AIIMS.
