New Delhi: A senior Defence Ministry official and his wife have been found dead under mysterious circumstances in their posh south Delhi residence. The bodies of Kumar Yashkar Sinha and his wife Archana Sharma were recovered on Saturday morning.
The bodies were found after neighbours spotted smoke emanating from their flat and alerted the police. Police say Yash's body was badly burnt, while his wife's body had bruises.
The police said Yash may have strangled his wife to death and may have set himself on fire.
They also said there were no signs of forced entry into the house. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem. A murder case has been filed.
Additional DCP PS Kushwaha said, "The door was locked, so we had to break into the house. We found the couple lying dead. Preliminary investigations are going on now."
Kumar Yashkar Sinha was the Deputy Director General of Medical Services in the Army headquarters. He was an alumnus of the London School of Economics.
