Delhi: Sikar gangrape survivor admitted to AIIMS, under examination

Jaipur: The 11-year-old Sikar gangrape survivor, who was earlier being treated in a Jaipur hospital, was on Friday moved to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital for further treatment. She was admitted in a private ward and was being examined by doctors.

The girl has already gone through multiple surgeries in the last six months when she was being treated in Jaipur. "The girl was sent to Delhi in an ambulance by road. Five major operations were performed on her but her condition was not improving up to the expectation so it was decided to shift her to the AIIMs," said Superintendent of JK Lone hospital in Jaipur Dr SD Sharma. A medical department spokesperson said the Rajasthan government would bear the expenses of the girl's treatment.

The 11-year-old was gangraped by five men in a jeep on August 20, 2012. Two of the accused identified as Suresh Kumar Jat and Ramesh Kumar Sharma have been arrested by police and are in judicial custody but the family is still waiting for the trial to begin. Both the accused belong to influential families which run businesses of stone crushing and tiles.

The girl has already gone through multiple surgeries in the last six months when she was being treated in Jaipur.
