New Delhi: The Union Power Secretary, R V Shahi, had called for a high-level meeting of Transco officials on Saturday to discuss the power crisis in Delhi.
After the meeting he said that Delhi will get an additional 500 MW of power from the Kawas power plant in Uttar Pradesh, within the next 10 days.
In the past week, the Capital has faced power cuts ranging from four to eight hours a day.
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) supplies most of the power to the Northern region but the Dadri plant is not producing power to full capacity and the 210 MW Badarpur power plant tripped last week.
And all this in comparison to a demand of 30,000 MW.
"Nafta Jagri Project of STVNL would feed around 1500-1600 MW of power. It will give considerable relief to the Northern region and also to Delhi. The Dadri gas unit of NTPC would be properly functional by Monday and will give 200 MW, said Shahi.
"The Anta ppower plant too would be available by Wednesday and will supply 127 MW. In the next two to three days, an extra 1500 MW of power would be available," he added.
