New Delhi: The dengue fever continues to create panic in the Capital.
According to officials in the Health Ministry, the disease has claimed 18 lives in Delhi so far.
But sources put the toll at a much higher figure with more cases being reported from city’s LNJP and Ganga Ram Hosptials.
There were two deaths at AIIMS on Saturday morning when 32-year-old Usman Gani, who had tested positive on October 5, and 45-year-old Najma from Dadri succumbed.
On Saturday evening, Angoori Devi, who had come all the way from Haryana to get herself treated at AIIMS, succumbed to the fever.
About 800 cases of dengue have been reported in Delhi so far and 3,331cases have been reported from across the country. 45 people have died due to the fever in the entire country.
Fourteen states are affected and deaths have been reported from Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.

But the Health Ministry still doesn't consider the outbreak an epidemic and the Cabinet Secretary will meet the health officials later in the day.
A team of 28 doctors and 30 interns has been deployed at AIIMS and MCD has issued notices to 34,000 homes and offices.
The body has also issued challans to 19,000 homes and offices.
Meanwhile, the condition of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's son-in-law and two grandsons, admitted to AIIMS, is said to be stable.
Thirty hospitals have been identified for dengue treatement and check-ups would be done for free.
AIIMS has put in place two helpline numbers which would be available from Monday to Saturday: 0110 26589712 (1000 hrs (IST) to 1700 hrs (IST).) and 9811301373 (1700 hrs (IST) to 2200 hrs(IST)).
