New Delhi: The economy may still be down but people have found a new way to ward off their worries — they are letting their hair down and dancing.
Ritika has been going through depressing times of late. An interior decorator in Delhi, she found her business affected by the economic meltdown.
But when she figured out she cannot do much about economy, she decided to do something about her health, and she decided to dance away her blues.
“There were ups and downs at work, especially due to recession. It was stressing, it was at that time that dancing emerged as a real stress buster.
And it’s not just Ritika. Over the past few months, several others have started exploring interesting way to fight off recession blues.
“These are times of lay offs due to recession. I was worried about of being laid off from work, because of which I was stressed and stress leads to headache and other physical ailments. Someone recommended dancing, so I joined dance classes and I have managed to build a positive attitude,” says Poornima, another professional dancing away her recession blues.
Dance has always been known as a great stress buster. It’s just that more and more working people are rediscovering that virtue now.
“These days lot of working class people have been coming to me. They are afraid that they might be given the pink slip. It is leading to lot of stress and I am recommending dance therapy,” psychiatrist Swati Kashyap says.
