Deshmukh fails to complete Maharashtra CM term again

Mumbai: Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's resignation was perhaps inevitable for the Congress to save its face in Maharashtra. In the attempt to do so, the Congress has had to let go of Deshmukh. In light of the public's growing outrage over the recent terrorist attack, Deshmukh's ouster was inevitable.
Defence Minister A K Anthony told media persons, "We have accepted Deshmukh's resignation."
That statement sealed the fate of Vilasrao Deshmukh and the state's top post is now up for grabs.
Deshmukh's ouster is yet another political fallout of the 26/11 terror attack, his stay having been made untenable due to political faux pas by him.
The Chief had visited the Taj hotel a few hours after the terrorsist attack in the company of his film star son Ritiesh Deshmukh and film director Ram Gopal Varma. The casual visit attracted scathing criticism from the already agonised citizens and Deshmukh drew flak for treating a highly sensitive issue to triviaally.
Deshmukh tried to make amends by explaining that Riteish and Varma had joined him accidentally and not as a part of a plan.
But neither the people, nor the Congress high command was buying that.
It was history repeating iteslf for Deshmukh. It is once again that he has failed to complete his five-year term as Chief Minister.
In 2003 he was replaced by his close friend Sushilkumar Shinde after just three years in the top post.
This time around he was forced to quit after four years as chief minister.
The last few months have been tough for Deshmukh, especially during Raj Thackeray's anti-migrant tirade and nationwide criticism that followed over his failure to maintain law and order in the state.
Many believe it was the growing public resentment against the top leadership in the state that left the Congress top brass with little option but to finally let Deshmukh go.

This man was on TV,profusely thanking Soniaji for making him chief minister twice. This is exactly why one gets angry.
