Dev D fame Kalki on films, her dream roles

New Delhi: The 11th Osian Cinefan Film Festival kickstarted over the weekend in the Capital with a ceremony to honour Oscar-winning lyricist Gulzar with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj were also present on the occasion.

This year the focus of the festival has shifted to Indian films like Zoya Akhtar'’s Luck by Chance, Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal and Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D as according to the experts these directors have dared to redefine mainstream cinema.

On Monday, the cast of Dev D was in the Capital to interact with cine buffs as a part of Osian’s learning experience programme.

While Abhay Deol, Anurag Kashyap and Mahie Gill kept away from media, it was Abhay’s co-star in the movie - Kalki Koechlin - who interacted with media in French, Tamil, Hindi and English.

The actress told how her life changed after Dev D.

“I have carried on doing theatre but yes it is a nice change because now people are noticing my work and those who wouldn’t have come to my place now come to visit me because of the film they saw,” says Kalki.

She also talked about the roles she wants to do in future.

“I want to do a role of a leader in an epic movie, where you play like a queen or a leader. This kind of a role has always tempted me. The other role that I am dying to do is comedy,” says Kalki.

She is also an ardent fan of filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s movies.

“Vishal Bhardwaj has definitely something in him. From Maqbool to Kaminey he has definitely raised the bar,” says the actress.

Meanwhile, Kaminey is amongst the 100 odd films from Asia and the Middle East which are being screened at the ongoing festival in the Capital.
