New Delhi: Veteran actor Dharmendra has completed 50 years in industry but he didn’t quite get the reception that he was expecting, when he came to the Capital for promoting a desi ghee brand.
The photo-opportunity turned chaotic when eager fans and the media pushed Dharmji over the edge and the superstar literally pushed his way out and left in an autorickshaw.
CNN-IBN’s Sushant Mehta caught up with Bollywood’s first he-man at his residence to find out exactly what had happened.
Sushant Mehta: What happened? Why did you go in an auto?
Dharmendra: Actually, I should not have gone, but I got this urge from within to try riding in an auto, and I enjoyed this ride. The warm breeze of Delhi reminded me that at one time I used to ride a cycle in Delhi.
Sushant Mehta: Talking about movies, can you believe it that Ram Gopal Varma is making Sholay again?
Dharmendra: Really?
Sushant Mehta: Yes!
Dharmendra: He just made one, didn't he?
Sushant Mehta: He did, but what did he make?
Dharmendra: Oh no, he - poor fellow - tried, on his part. People may not have liked it. I was not able to see it; had I seen it I would have told you my opinion of it – I really couldn't see it.
Sushant Mehta: What do you think about the recent spat between your contemporaries Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha?
Dharmendra: I have not heard about it. Both of them are junior to me – they are like my younger brothers. I think even if it's a small matter, it's made into a huge deal, they pull it a lot. If I meet them I'll ask them why do they quarrel.
