Mumbai: Dhoom 2's stunts created dhoom at the box office when the film released in November last year but all is not over for this action flick as the movie is still making waves in the international film circuit.
The Yashraj Films action thriller has been nominated in the foreign film category at the prestigious Taurus Stunt Awards, for what else, but its mind-blowing stunts. And the film's stunt coordinator Allan Amin is pretty kicked about it.
“I am very proud of the fact that we have won a nomination. It’s a first,” says Amin.
Hrithik Roshan, who played a conman in the film, did many of his stunts himself. Like the one involving Aishwarya Rai and him jumping off a cliff made many sit up and take notice.
“That was actually a piece of cake. The actors volunteered to do the stunt, and so we did it quite quickly,” says Amin.
The makers of the film also roped in Hollywood stunt coordinator Vic Armstrong to execute some of the stunts. Armstrong, who has directed the likes of Tom Cruise and Pierce Brosnan, was all praise for Hrithik.
“Hrithik is one of the fittest actors I have seen recently and those efforts made the stuff on Dhoom 2 look exceptionally good,” says Armstrong.
Amin feels that the big budget and the specialist stuntmen from Australia gave Dhoom 2 an international flavour. So, a win at the Taurus stunt awards will definitely add value to the Indian film technicians’ reputation abroad.
