Mumbai: K Asif's Mughal-e-Azam made history by becoming one the first Hindi films to be re-released in a colour version.

And now, the movie’s dialogues find themselves the subject of a book.

They are the dialogues that made Mughal-e-Azam immortal in most Hindi film lovers memories.

These very lines have found way in writer Nasreen Munni Kabir's book called quite simply The Immortal Dialogue of K Asif's Mughal-e-Azam.

The book was launched by lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar and features the film's original text in Urdu accompanied by an English translation by the author.

"Even today people know the dialogues of the film. When Akbar says to Anarkali, ‘Salilm tumhe marne nahin dega aur hum, Anarkali, tumhe jeene nahi denge’ (Salim will not let you die and I will not let you live)- everybody knows these dialogues. They are iconic lines because they have meaning and excellent command over the language. They are saying something and the way it has been said is very clever,” says the author, Nasreen.

The book has all the lyrical phrases, the war of words and romantic exchanges penned by Amanullah Khan, Ehsan Rizvi, Kamal Amrohi and Vajahat Mirza and is a must have for all Mughal-e-Azam fans.
