Mumbai: A controversial title and now a controversial trailer - director Dibakar Banerjee's Love Sex Aur Dhokha seems to be already making news for it's shock value. A first cut of the promo couldn't make it past the censors without an Adult certificate. A few changes later, the makers have got a UA certificate for it.
Dibakar Banerjee says, "There were many thing which were objectionable to the censor and we have cut all that but it's fine now."
Shot on a shoestring budget of Rs 2 crore, LSD is an experimental attempt by Dibakar Banerjee to explore contemporary India's obsession with voyeurism. The film is shot on a digital format to complement its theme - a world seen mostly through CCTVs, webcams and mobile cameras.
Banerjee says, "When you have to show a couple's intimate scene - a boyfriend and girlfriend kissing without them knowing - then you can't shoot it with a film camera and can't light it up the way we do in films."
Love Sex Aur Dhokha is produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures - a conscious attempt to move away from the regular Bollywood fare with known faces.
"If I show you two couple making out and show it through a hidden camera, then if I use a known face it won't look real," says Banerjee.
While the promo's of LSD will hit theatres with Rajkumar Hirani's 3 idiots in select multiplexes, you can still catch the original promo online.
