Differences emerge between Baba Ramdev, Team Anna

New Delhi: A day after anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev shared the stage, the latter refused to commit to working under the leadership of the Gandhian. Baba and Anna also had their own separate agendas during the day.

On Monday, while Team Anna met for an eight-hour brainstorming session, the yoga guru was busy meeting political leaders seeking support for his movement. His first stop was Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari, who offered him all possible help.

"We want to meet Sonia Gandhi also and have sought an appointment," said Baba Ramdev.

While Ramdev has reiterated his stand of not naming political leadership in his campaign against black money, Team Anna is firm on its strategy. In fact after the core group meeting, Anna Hazare toed the Kejriwal line launching a direct attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Anna said, "After going through the papers, I have suspicion about Prime Minister’s role in the coal blocks allocation."

Team Anna members are planning another fast from July 25 to press for a strong Lokpal Bill. There is no mention whether Ramdev will be invited to join the platform. The difference in approach it seems is apparent.

"I believe it is a political fight and we have to name the people. Ramdev is a Sanyasi and he thinks that naming is not necessary. Ramdev ji is also right and I am also right," said Arvind Kejriwal.

The differences between the two self confessed non-political movements are political in nature and also irreconcilable. Some Team Anna members like Prashant Bhushan and Medha Patkar have already made it clear by refusing to share dais with Ramdev.
