New Delhi: Differences have surfaced in Congress over diesel price hike and restricting supply of cooking gas with a senior leader demanding a rollback of the decisions, saying it is a "great setback" to the party.

"The government's decision to increase the price of diesel by Rs 5 per litre and restricting supply of subsidised LPG gas to six cylinders per household in a year will prove disastrous for common man. The government must reconsider the decision," Anil Shastri told PTI.

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must intervene and roll back the diesel prices and remove restriction on subsidised LPG supply.

Congress leader Anil Shastri said the diesel price hike was a \'great setback\' to the party.

Meanwhile, Shastri commented on microblogging site Twitter that Rahul Gandhi and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi have been making all possible efforts to strengthen the party but "their efforts have been brought to nought".

"The government's decision is a great setback to the party," he tweeted.

Noting that an additional burden of Rs 350 per cylinder is enormous for anybody, Shastri said restriction on subsidised LPG gas supply will encourage black marketing of cooking gas cylinders which will add to the woes of common man who is "already fed up with all round corruption".
