Nagercoil: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Friday accused DMK and AIADMK of fooling people by promising freebies in their manifestos for the April 13 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
These parties were doing so only to garner votes and BJP was against such practice, she told reporters in Nagercoil.
Expressing confidence that BJP would win an "impressive" number of seats, she said the party would function as an effective opposition as it was doing in Parliament.
In a democracy, both ruling and opposition parties were essential, said the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, who is here to campaign for BJP candidates.
