New Delhi: The rift in the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) over who will succeed M Karunanidhi continues, even as the party grapples with setbacks in the 2G spectrum scam.
Reports say supporters of Karunanidhi's favoured son, MK Stalin, stopped party leader Veerapandi Arumugam from raising the succession issue.
Stalin supporters are demanding that he be made the next party chief. But Karunanidhi's elder son Alagiri wants the top party job for himself.
Karunanidhi clarified, "There was no discussion on who the next leader would be. The next leader would be decided by the leaders of the party who are elected by party elections. It'll approximately take one year for that to be decided."
