Indian domestic airlines to cut rates

New Delhi: The is some good news for air passengers as air fares are all set to come down.

The three top domestic airlines - Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines and Air India - are cutting fares.

Both Jet and Kingfisher are cutting fares by between 15-40 per cent.

Kingfisher was the first to announce the cut, starting the first week of January.

Sources say fares are likely to fall by 15 per cent. Jet Airways' 15-40 per cent fare cut became effective from Monday.

The amount varies based on the route travelled and discounts available at the time of booking.

Air India is likely to cut fares by 15 per cent soon.

The current Delhi-Mumbai fare by Kingfisher or Jet is about Rs 7,420. The fare will fall by approximately Rs 650 now.

For the Delhi-Kolkata route, the current fare is Rs 7,020, which will be Rs 6,400 now.

And the Delhi-Chennai flight which used to cost Rs 8,570 will now be Rs 800 cheaper.
