Don't shrug off, Global warming a big threat

New Delhi: Disastrous consequences are predicted for Planet Earth in the next 50 years. Cyclones, freak weather conditions, scorching summers and severe winters are a few to name. But is this all hype or is there enough scientific data to back this

“We have confirmation that the glaciers have shrunk, we have other signs that climate change is happening,” says Shirish Sinha.

A satellite image also shows how the Gangotri glacier has shrunk, an image from the Sunderbans shows how sea levels are already rising. In the Sunderbans 6000 people have already moved when two of the islands got submerged.

In the Lakshwadeep islands - fishermen are already feeling the heat of climate change

“The weather patterns have changed, the sea currents as well now for over 7 months in a year we are not getting any fish,” says a Lakshwadeep resident

So this earth hour - shrug the cynicism - and make that difference- after all just one light bulb switched off - is 200 kg of Co2 saved.
