New Delhi: Bajaj Auto chief Rahul Bajaj on Monday clarified his comments on the issue of the government giving a bailout to the cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines.
Bajaj said that he did not think he was misquoted, adding that his comment was not in reference to Kingfisher but to the whole private sector.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Bajaj said, "I don't think I was misquoted. 'Dies or not dies' is not in reference to Kingfisher."
"I believe in the private sector, so does my friend Vijay Mallya… he himself said he did not want a bailout," he said.
The Bajaj Auto chief further said that he was also against a bailout to Air India, however, refused to speak much on the issue.
Bajaj had, speaking at the India Economic Summit in Mumbai, said, "If Bajaj Auto gets into a mess, would you bail me out? If it's a free market economy, those who die, must die."
