New Delhi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, in reaction to the Anti-Dowry Act registered against him said it has nothing to do with him and that he stays away from family matters.

A case under the Anti-Dowry Act has been registered against the Minister, his wife Beena Singh, son Abhimanyu Singh, grandson Abhijeet Singh and three others at a police station in Moradabad.

Moradabad SSP Prem Prakash said the case has been registered on the direction of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandausi, on a complaint by Madhvendra Singh, the father of Arjun Singh’s grand daughter-in-law Priyanka Singh.

Madhvendra Singh has alleged that his daughter's in-laws had been demanding a Mercedes car and a flat from him and his daughter was being tortured when their demand was not met.

The case has been registered on the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's order, on July 27.

When asked why there was a two-day delay in registering a case despite the court order, Prakash said, “The matter was being inquired into.”
